Altens, Partner of the ‘HVO Tour’: Thermal Engines Are Ready for Post-2035

Altens announces its partnership with the ‘Tracked & Trusted European HVO Tour.’ This initiative, spanning over 15,000 km across twenty European countries, aims to demonstrate that thermal engines are already ready for post-2035 and their exclusive operation with Carbon-Neutral Fuels. This project further highlights the key role of HVO100 in the energy transition.

Altens, a French distributor of low-carbon fuels and PUR-XtL (HVO100), announces its participation as an energy partner in the Tracked & Trusted European HVO Tour, an initiative led by Stellantis and its professional division (Stellantis Pro One) and SP3H (a French Tech company based in Aix-en-Provence) to demonstrate, in real-world conditions, that thermal mobility can be immediately decarbonized using continuously tracked renewable fuels.

An Effective Solution for Reducing CO2 Emissions

Aboard a Fiat Ducato and a Citroën Berlingo powered exclusively by HVO100, the two vehicles will cover 10,000 km in 4 weeks across Europe, refueling only at stations distributing this biofuel. The objective is clear: to demonstrate that, alongside electrification, other effective solutions exist to drastically reduce emissions now, and that renewable fuels play a major role in the transition.

Real-Time Certification

Thanks to SP3H’s FluidBox Micro sensor, vehicles certify in real time the nature of the fuel used and the associated CO₂ reduction. This innovation enhances transparency and provides undeniable proof of use.

“With this journey across Europe, we confirm that the thermal engine is not incompatible with the ecological transition. Thanks to HVO100, it can become a low-carbon mobility solution, operational immediately. And we are proving it ten years before the European regulatory deadline of 2035,” declares Étienne Valtel, CEO of Altens.

The European Union has indeed confirmed that thermal vehicles can continue to operate after 2035, provided they use carbon-neutral fuels. With this initiative, Altens and SP3H show that this vision is not futuristic: it is already accessible.
Derived from organic waste (used cooking oils and residual fats), the HVO100 distributed by Altens can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to – 90%, while being compatible with many existing diesel engines without modification.

Altens thus reaffirms its role as a key partner for the rapid and pragmatic decarbonization of the vehicle fleet.
